How can you get trustworthy reviews on Amazon? Colleen Quattlebaum, Director of Marketing at eComEngine, went straight to the source to find out! Watch the recording of her interview with Rebecca Mond, Head of External Relations for Customer Trust and Abuse Prevention at Amazon, to learn about everything from how Amazon maintains customer trust to whether you can send Amazon review requests on a product insert.
Ensuring that Amazon stores remain trusted and safe is critical for Amazon and its sellers. When Amazon introduced product reviews in 1995, showcasing positive and negative customer opinions next to the products sold was a new concept. That transparency is still a key reason customers love shopping with Amazon.
Amazon proactively blocked more than 250 million suspected fake reviews in 2023.
Amazon reviews are important to sellers and their businesses. Genuine customer feedback provides important insights into the product and ways to improve it. Amazon takes several steps to prevent biased reviews. For example, sellers cannot post reviews on their products or a competitor’s products. Amazon has a zero-tolerance policy for fake reviews. Offering incentives such as money, discounts, and free products in exchange for Amazon reviews is strictly prohibited.
Getting those first reviews on a recently launched product can be challenging. Enrolling in the Amazon Vine program can help. The specially selected Vine Voices reviewers have a long history of leaving authentic reviews, and Vine reviews can boost sales by up to 30%. You can also use the Request a Review feature in Seller Central to send an automated email to the customer requesting a review.
FeedbackFive by eComEngine allows you to schedule and automate the Request a Review message. Send Amazon-compliant review requests with ease! You can find FeedbackFive in the Selling Partner Appstore.
In the interview, Rebecca offers an overview of key Amazon review policies with examples of how they apply. She also explains how Amazon takes action to keep fake reviews out of the ecosystem. Amazon takes review manipulation very seriously. If you suspect an Amazon review is fake, report it through the “report abuse” link on the product detail page so Amazon can investigate.
Amazon is fighting fake review brokers by taking legal action. Last year, Amazon took legal action against more than 150 bad actors, resulting in 75 fake review brokers getting shut down.
