Amazon FBA New Selection program benefits include the ability to qualify for free monthly storage, free liquidation for inventory that isn't selling, and free return processing on eligible parent ASINs that are new to FBA.
In this article, we’ll share how the program works and what you need to know to participate. This information has been updated to reflect changes that went into effect in 2024.
The Amazon FBA New Selection program is only available for eligible parent ASINs that are new to FBA. Once enrolled, fee waiver benefits can be used for an unlimited number of new-to-FBA parent ASINs that you create.
FBA New Selection participants can receive an average 10% rebate on sales of eligible new-to-FBA parent products, including new rebates for non-branded selections. Existing FBA sellers can enroll to participate in the program. New sellers who list their first buyable ASIN and get started with FBA are automatically enrolled in the FBA New Selection program. The rebate applies on up to 50 units per parent product for up to 120 days for eligible non-branded non-standard size items. For eligible non-branded standard-size items, it applies for up to 100 units per parent product over the same timeframe. Those same units are eligible for waived FBA inbound placement fees between December 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.
One perk of the program is free monthly storage and free liquidations for standard-size ASINs. Amazon won’t charge monthly storage fees for the first 100 units of each new parent ASIN for 120 days after the first unit is received at a fulfillment center. If needed, you can liquidate any of those units within 180 days after they are received with no liquidation fees. The same timeline applies to oversized ASINs for up to 50 units of each new parent ASIN.
There are additional benefits available for the apparel and shoes categories, which both allow for no monthly storage fees for 120 days and no liquidation fees within 180 days for the first 100 units of each new parent ASIN. Return processing fees will also be waived for up to 20 units of each eligible parent product.
Amazon is offering a 25% discount on the Vine enrollment fee for eligible products enrolled in the New Selection program. The discount will apply when 3-10 units per parent ASIN are enrolled in Vine.
You must be a Professional seller to enroll in the program and have an Inventory Performance Index (IPI) score of 300 or higher. New sellers are automatically enrolled. If you’re enrolled, you remain eligible until the next FBA New Selection assessment on April 1, even if your IPI score changes before then. If your IPI score is below 400 as of that date, you'll be removed from the program.
To qualify for program benefits, you must be eligible on the date that your first new-to-FBA ASIN is received at a fulfillment center. If you’ve completed the Brand Registry and are identified as a brand owner, you may also be eligible for a 5% sales rebate, as mentioned above.
Eligible ASINs do not include new child ASINs that are created under a parent ASIN that is already on FBA. You also may not enroll new ASINs that are created by bundling the same or different existing FBA ASINs.
How do I get started?
To participate in the program, you must opt in. Amazon will then determine whether you qualify. If you are a new seller, you will be automatically enrolled in the program.
Is there a limit to the number of units that can be sent to fulfillment centers?
No, you may send in as many units as you like. However, only the number of units designated for each size/category will qualify for fee waivers.
Is there a parent ASIN limit?
No, Amazon has removed the previous 500 ASIN limit as of April 2021 and now allows an unlimited number of eligible new-to-FBA parent ASINs.
This program is especially beneficial if you are a brand or private label seller. The waived FBA storage and removal fees provide a low-risk way to experiment with stocking a new product at Amazon fulfillment centers. Saving money on fees allows you to focus on promotion and building your product's reputation.
You can see your engagement with the program by checking the FBA New Selection dashboard while logged into Seller Central.
