If you’ve been thinking about becoming an Amazon seller but it’s never really felt like the right time, this may be your lucky day.
Early last month, Amazon announced a number of new incentives to get sellers onto its platform. For vendors that have a history of selling on Amazon, you won’t qualify for most of these benefits (sorry!). But for those of you who just started selling on the marketplace this year or intend to start soon, the Amazon New Seller Incentives can certainly sweeten the deal.
To take advantage of the Amazon New Seller Incentives, a seller must be on the Professional selling plan and launch their first product on January 1, 2022 or later. Some benefits are specific to sellers who sign up for the Amazon Brand Registry, and others are for those who enroll in the Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) program.
These benefits are mostly designed to encourage new sellers to join the platform, but they can also apply to existing Amazon sellers who take this opportunity to expand into new regions. If you currently only sell in the United States but have been considering launching your products in Japan, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, or Spain, you may also qualify.
There are seven new Amazon seller incentives that you can potentially take advantage of. Here's what you need to know about each of them.
The first incentive is pretty straightforward: extra profit. New sellers enrolled in the Brand Registry will receive a 5% bonus from Amazon for either their first $1 million in branded sales or their first year of selling, whichever comes first. That’s potentially up to $50,000 in bonus payments. The bonus amount will be paid to sellers monthly as a credit you can apply to the next month’s referral fees.
New sellers enrolled in Amazon’s Brand Registry are eligible for $200 in credits for Amazon Vine if they choose to enroll in the program.
For Amazon customers, reviews are often the top deciding factor in choosing which products to buy. But for new sellers, getting those first reviews can feel like an uphill battle. Amazon Vine is a program designed to help with that. For a $200 enrollment fee, you can kickstart review generation by sending your product to trusted Amazon reviewers called Vine Voices. Note that adult, digital, and heavy and bulky items are not allowed.
The cost of shipping is an unfortunate part of life for eCommerce sellers. For new Amazon sellers that use FBA, one of Amazon’s New Seller Incentives should help lighten the load.
You can get $100 in credits for inventory shipping fees if you use the Amazon Partnered Carrier program. This is a benefit that you can take advantage of as long as you send inventory to an Amazon fulfillment center within a year of beginning to sell on Amazon.
For new sellers enrolled in FBA that use Amazon Global Logistics, you have the option to get a $200 credit in fulfillment fees instead of inventory shipping fees. Amazon Global Logistics is a program that helps you send your inventory to warehouses worldwide for fulfillment in other countries.
For new sellers that use FBA, Amazon will auto-enroll them in the FBA New Selection program. Sellers enrolled in the New Selection program can qualify for free monthly storage, free liquidations for inventory that’s not selling well, and free processing of returns.
If you want more shoppers to purchase your products, you need to make them more visible in an immensely crowded marketplace. Investing in Sponsored Products ads is a great way to get your products in front of people.
For new sellers that use FBA, you can get $200 in promotional clicks if you launch a Sponsored Products campaign with no end date that lasts for at least 30 days. This benefit is not available to sellers in France, Italy, Spain, or Turkey.
And finally, for new sellers who decide to use Amazon Coupons to create promotions for your products, you can get $50 in coupon credits. To be eligible for this credit, you must create a coupon within the first 90 days of starting to sell on the platform.
The Amazon New Seller Incentives were created to help new sellers achieve a “perfect launch.” The company believes that the first 90 days a seller is on the platform is a crucial time period for their long-term success. With this early boost to help you start strong, you can gain the momentum needed to build a successful Amazon business.
