It seems that everyone is launching their own version of TikTok lately: YouTube, Instagram, and now even Amazon. The eCommerce giant has recently released Amazon Inspire, a feed of short-form videos and photos that recommends products based on the user’s interests. This new feature comes as part of the pre-existing Amazon Shopping app and will become available to more and more customers in the U.S. over the next few months.
Naturally, you're probably wondering how to enroll your products in the Amazon Inspire program and make them more discoverable for new customers. In this guide, we'll explain what Amazon Inspire is and how it works, including how you can get your own products onto this new marketing platform.
Amazon Inspire is a new feature for the Amazon Shopping app that presents short product videos and photos to customers with the goal of “inspiring” people to find a product they like. While currently in limited release, Inspire should be available to all U.S. customers in the upcoming months and ostensibly the rest of the world shortly after.
Each photo and video has the product information tagged right there on the screen. With just a tap, the user can access reviews, open product details, view more images, or even add the product to their cart directly. Content for Inspire comes from your Brand Posts or from Amazon influencers’ storefronts.

The beauty of Amazon Inspire is that it’s catered specifically to the user’s tastes. Think of it like social media meets the recommendations banners on the Amazon home page. The personalization aspect saves customers time finding products they might be interested in. Sellers have the added benefit of getting their products in front of highly interested shoppers.
This is one of Amazon’s most focused marketing devices yet, although time will tell whether customers actually use it enough to have it stick around.
Amazon doesn’t say much about how Inspire generates recommendations, and it’s unclear whether or not it draws on previous purchases. What we do know for sure is that Amazon Inspire chooses its recommendations from at least two sources:
To get started with Amazon Inspire, click on the light bulb icon in the navigation menu at the bottom of the app screen (it will appear between the home and account icons). If you don’t see it yet, wait a few weeks — the feature is still gradually being rolled out.
The first time you use Inspire, you’re given the option to select your interests. These are broad categories to help make an initial profile of the user, with choices like “makeup,” “camping,” “men’s/women’s style,” and “pets.”Your interests influence what appears in the first shoppable feed. From there, you can “like” posts for the kinds of products you’re interested in and Amazon Inspire will factor those interests into later feeds. In other words, the more you use Inspire, the more it learns what you want to see and hopefully buy.
If you’re an Amazon seller, you’ll obviously want your products to show up on Inspire as much as possible. Unfortunately, you cannot submit content to the Amazon Inspire program directly. Amazon generates content based on your Amazon Posts, so be sure to take advantage of this feature so you can make the most out of Inspire.
Amazon Posts are available for free for brand-registered sellers. If you want to be featured on Amazon Inspire, enrolling in this service is your first step.
It should also go without saying, but be selective with what you share on your Posts. Only include high-quality images and videos and make them look as professional as possible. This is even more important now that Post content doubles as Inspire content.
It’s also a safe bet that products with higher sales, views, and reviews will be featured more prominently on Amazon Inspire. Product performance is a common factor Amazon uses to decide what it features, so it’s reasonable to assume Inspire will be no different.
That means to get featured more on Inspire, you should optimize all aspects of a product, especially those with lackluster reviews.
If you need help with review generation, give FeedbackFive a try. This premier feedback and review request software allows you to reach more buyers in bulk to help boost your numbers.
While the TikTok trend may be overplayed for its entertainment value, its applications in eCommerce are not. The Amazon Inspire app takes that beloved short-form video model and focuses it on retail. Even if it looks and feels familiar, it’s still an exciting new concept other eCommerce marketplaces haven’t caught on to yet.
You absolutely should be excited about the soon-to-be extensive rollout of Amazon Inspire! It’s a direct connection to shoppers with relevant interests and shopping habits with much more efficient targeting than other forms of Amazon advertising.
