You only have so much time in a day. All the work involved in managing your product listings and advertising efforts takes time away from sourcing the best products and delivering top-notch customer service.
You can't completely skip the work of creating effective product listings and advertising content, but you may be able to simplify the process. Amazon sellers now have a few new AI tools that could help you improve efficiency and visibility at the same time.
Amazon has recently announced several new tools and features that use generative AI technology to help sellers increase their reach with customers with less work.
In October 2024, Amazon launched a new AI creative studio that offers resources sellers can use to easily create video content and live images. The creative studio includes a video generator that, according to Amazon, can create a promotional video about your product starting from simply a product image.
It also offers live image features that make it easy to add basic animation to images you load, such as showing steam coming from a cup of coffee. To help sellers get started, Amazon has included an AI gallery of different ad formats, designs, and themes that can simplify the process of creating branded visual content for your campaigns.
At the same time it announced the creative studio's launch, Amazon also announced the new audio generator tool. Sellers can create a 30-second audio ad starting from just an Amazon-listed product. The tool uses generative AI to create a voiceover script based on your product information. According to Amazon, you only need to choose the voice, tone, and background music to produce a completed audio ad.
Before releasing these audio and video tools, Amazon introduced features to help sellers more easily create product listings using generative AI. As of 2023, sellers can let generative AI build out a product listing based on either a brief description, a product image, or the URL to a product page on your website. Amazon emphasizes that sellers should always review the AI-generated product listing before publishing it, but notes that sellers accept the suggested listing with minimal edits around 80% of the time.
As with product listings, Amazon also now offers a feature to let generative AI automatically produce A+ content with minimal input required. Inputting descriptive terms for product attributes you want to highlight is enough to produce rich narrative content you can add to your product listing. Loading a product image will automatically generate visual content like background images and scenes that show your product in action.
In addition to helping sellers create advertising content and improve product listings, Amazon is also using generative AI to improve findability for products based on a customer's activity on the site. While this feature doesn't require sellers to do anything directly, by driving prospective customer awareness of product pages relevant to their interests, it could help boost sales.
Offering personalized recommendations to customers is nothing new on Amazon. It's been using AI and machine learning to deliver relevant suggestions to users for years. It's now using generative AI technology for the same purpose. Amazon's Large Language Model (LLM) pulls from extensive data on a customer's browsing and shopping history to select relevant product recommendations and craft a product title that highlights the attributes likely to matter most to the customer. For instance, one customer might see clothing product recommendations that emphasize comfort, while another gets suggestions focused on style, each according to their past search history.
Amazon has also launched AI-generated shopping guides that bring together products of the same type, to help customers more easily research their options when shopping for a specific category of product. For sellers, this is another potential opportunity for your products to be featured where interested prospects can find them.
All of these features are designed to make selling (and shopping) on Amazon easier. If you combine these tools from Amazon with other software products for Amazon sellers, you can potentially automate much of the tedious and time-consuming work involved in running a business on Amazon, improving efficiency and boosting results at the same time.
While these tools have the potential to boost sales with less work, sellers should always be cautious when using generative AI. Check the content it produces to make sure it presents your products accurately. You don't want to save time on the front end, only to deal with more returns and complaints after you make a sale because the AI got something wrong. If used judiciously, Amazon's generative AI tools could help you save time and increase sales.
